Who Should Pay For the Wedding?

Who should pay for the wedding?

We know in United States, traditionally it has been the bride's family who would pay for the wedding. But nowadays there are many ways to do it. Some couples chose to split the bill between the bride and the groom's families; some couples chose to just pay the bills themselves...There are pros and cons for each method.

Remember, whoever pays for the bill would have a say on the wedding arrangements. So the financial pressure may be relieved if your have more family members involved in the process, but the overall planning pressure would be more. Plus, there is also a risk of adding baggages to the future family relationships.

But there is a hot concept called CrowdSourcing, which I think might be a great relief to this dilemma. Why not use the wedding registry for wedding decoration, gifts and even your bride jewlries? Wedding registry is not a new concept. But people typically use them for Home & Kitchen stuff that are too fancy for your new home. You may end up with more things than you actually need for your new home. Young couples wouldn't really need those fancy silverwares or cooking equipments.

The difference between using wedding registries for wedding financial contributions and directly ask your in-laws to finance your wedding is that with a registry you can choose what you want for your own wedding. Other people don't really have an easy way to "manipulate" the list.

Anyway, enjoy your wedding planning! It should be just special for you. For more wedding customization ideas you can click here.
