DIY Wedding - Common Mistake

One major common mistake that I have seen in those DIY weddings is wrong choice of lights. The wedding planner, be it the bride or the mom, always gets attached to many details like wedding favors for the guests, for the bridesmaids, the centerpiece, the necklace, the invitation cards, but not the actual venue lights. But the choice of lights directly impact the quality of your photos, and the ambience of the whole wedding.

Depends on the style of the wedding, the lights may add to the retro feeling of the theme, or the romance of your love story, or even demonstrate you as a person.

For those romantic weddings, I would recommend those lights that are shiny with flowers or snowflakes. Those can't go wrong. Check this one out here.

Bachelorette Party Destination Ideas- How About Disney?

Where should you go for Bachelorette Party?

I wouldn't say you need to go for too exotic places. You can save those for destination wedding or honeymoon. You may need some strong guys for security reasons if you go for exotic places anyway.

Here is an idea: how about DisneyLand?

I know it sounds odd and ignorant. But think about it. The whole point of a Bachelorette party is to say goodbye to your younger self and declare another chapter of your life. Spend some time like a princess in the DisneyLand with your girlfriends might be the best way to touch your most romantic self.

Recently I revisited the DisneyLand with a girlfriend and without my husband. It was a completely different experience compared to going with my husband.

Firstly, simply looking at the carousel made me smile. I remembered my husband didn't even want to try it with me...But my girlfriend and I really enjoyed it as much as the one in Paris.

The next highlight is definitely Peter Pan attraction. You "drive" in almost every other attraction, but you "fly" in Peter Pan's place, just like what was described in the book. It is very difficult to describe how romantic it was to fly in a starry night on top of old london. It looked like something like this, but much more beautiful and dynamic.

Of course one of the highlights is the famous fireworks in front of the sleeping beauty's castle. We were lucky and found a great spot to enjoy the whole marvelous fireworks concert. Very amazing and romantic.

It all depends on your situation. If you have a geek husband like me, definitely consider checking out Disneyland with your girlfriends one day.

Japan as a Wedding Destiny

A lot of people may choose destination wedding for several reasons:
  • Limited time and budget
  • Only people who really care would come
  • Packadge it with a honey moon
  • Enjoy a break with the loved ones
  • ....
When it comes to the choice of wedding destination though, not that many people are thinking out of the box. Paris, Iceland, Argetina....all these are nice choices. But have you considered Japan?

I just got married and every bridemaid of mine wants to go to Japan. There is also another couple that I know of went to Japan to celebrate their engagement. Their experience has been amazing. Besides the fact that everything there is cute, they got to try out hotsprings in Kimono too. Nothing beats exploring an exotic place together with your loved ones.

Well, I didn't go to Japan for my wedding. I wish I planned ahead about who should pay for the wedding. But next time when my hubby and I had a chance, I will surely check it out.

Who Should Pay For the Wedding?

Who should pay for the wedding?

We know in United States, traditionally it has been the bride's family who would pay for the wedding. But nowadays there are many ways to do it. Some couples chose to split the bill between the bride and the groom's families; some couples chose to just pay the bills themselves...There are pros and cons for each method.

Remember, whoever pays for the bill would have a say on the wedding arrangements. So the financial pressure may be relieved if your have more family members involved in the process, but the overall planning pressure would be more. Plus, there is also a risk of adding baggages to the future family relationships.

But there is a hot concept called CrowdSourcing, which I think might be a great relief to this dilemma. Why not use the wedding registry for wedding decoration, gifts and even your bride jewlries? Wedding registry is not a new concept. But people typically use them for Home & Kitchen stuff that are too fancy for your new home. You may end up with more things than you actually need for your new home. Young couples wouldn't really need those fancy silverwares or cooking equipments.

The difference between using wedding registries for wedding financial contributions and directly ask your in-laws to finance your wedding is that with a registry you can choose what you want for your own wedding. Other people don't really have an easy way to "manipulate" the list.

Anyway, enjoy your wedding planning! It should be just special for you. For more wedding customization ideas you can click here.
